Lancashire’s Animal Rescue Centres

Lancashire’s Animal Rescue Centres

Lancashire is well known for its nature conservation efforts. It has many nature reserves that are home to some of the rarest species in the UK. So, it’s no surprise that the county also has a lot of animal rescue centres. The six centres below are all worth visiting if you’re passionate about nature, wildlife, and animal welfare.

Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary

The facility is located in Bury, UK, and is home to donkeys, pigs, dogs, rabbits, and many other farm animal breeds that need shelter after being abandoned by their owners or rescued from slaughterhouses.

Wolfwood Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation

This wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centre is dedicated to the treatment, care, and protection of sick, injured, or orphaned wild animals found around Lancashire.

RSPCA Preston

RSPCA’s Preston Branch is home to several animals, from dogs, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs to horses, goats, and sheep. Its main goal is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome any animals that are mistreated or abandoned.

Lancashire Cat Rescue

As the name suggests, Lancashire Cat Rescue is non-profit and provides a safe haven for stray, feral cats and kittens that are homeless or unwanted. It rescues hundreds of cats every year, which it then nurtures back to health before finding them new homes.

Eastleigh Animal Sanctuary

The facility rescues homeless dogs, cats, pigs, and geese. It also provides stray animals with food, shelter, and water until it finds them new homes to live in permanently.

Cat Friends of Hyndburn

The facility is dedicated to rehoming stray, abandoned, and unwanted cats in the Hyndburn area. They also help with neutering and medical treatment. The team takes in sick, injured, or very young kittens too.
